It is quite American in feel and relatively expensive. There approximately 40,000 inhabitants living on Grand Cayman, half of whom are expatriates from about 101 countries and that alone makes it a fascinating country to either visit or live in. Caymanians islanders themselves are very charming but quite reserved, and in a lot of instances they keep to themselves. There are many types of accommodation in Grand Cayman, but remember it is a premier tourist destination so prices tend to be on the high side. For more on accommodation click here...

Although the Grand Cayman is famous for its’ Seven Mile Beach the beach is probably about six miles in length but it is much sexier to say "seven mile beach" as opposed to "six mile beach. The beach is really exquisite and has powdery white sands to die for. You can walk the full length of the beach (all six miles of it) without getting accosted by vendors, ice cream vendors and other such people selling wares that you do not really feel like buying. Unlike most beaches in the world Seven Mile Beach is so secure, that ladies can walk the entire beach alone at any time and feel like they are in their own back yard. The beach stretches from just outside George Town (the capital of the Cayman Islands) to almost to the tip of the island in West Bay (a suburb on Grand Cayman). It is this pristine beach that is the most visible sight to greet cruise ship passengers as they come in to George Town in the early mornings.

There are of course many other beaches on Grand Cayman that are not as famous as Seven Mile Beach.
